Taking a payment "holiday" just before moving...

Currently have a mortgage with Nationwide which has just come to the end of a 3 year fixed rate and is now at their standard rate so is crippling at the minute, however we are currently in the process of moving and switching to a new fixed rate mortgage also with Nationwide for a smaller amount on a new house which will mean we will be paying far less.
What i am wondering is will they allow me to take a payment holiday as this is almost certainly the last payment we will make on the old agreement before moving (provided it doesnt fall through).
And if so what effect will this have on the amount we have to pay back to nationwide when the switchover happens?
Appreciate any advice.
