Playstation Plus Subscription Renewal

Options
Hi all,

Wondered if you could help. Found out when looking through my bank account statement that Playstation have automatically taking another £39.99 for the Playstation Plus Subscription however I no longer own my PS4. When I contacted them about this they said:

'All of our Subscriptions have a 14 Day cooling off period which begins on the first day the Subscription was bought, this does not include renewals but rather only the original first purchase.

Unfortunately outside of the 14 Days (all renewals excluding PS Now 7-Day Trial) cannot be refunded. This is due to the Terms of Service you agreed to when buying the Subscription and creating your account.'

Surely this can't be right? I don't remember signing up for a direct debit - I thought it was a one-off payment. So basically I am now left with a hole in my pocket for a service I am not going to use.

If anyone has any advice to help with this then please give me a shout.

Charles.

  • When you paid the 1st time it ask you to tick the box if you do not want Automatic renewal. I normally skip and dont read any of it but it caught my eye before i press next. So word of advice is read before you press next, they do warn you before you press next. So i would go and log on playstaion plus on a PC or laptop log in and turn it off.

    What rights are them ?

You should have been aware it was set to an auto renewal.

It states that you will auto renew when you purchase it, you have to take the tick out of the box which I always do. I can't see you having any rights seeing as you would have agreed to it. Make sure that they don't charge you for next years renewal.
  • I would simply ask them for some compassion here seeing as you no longer have the console.

They might have some mercy for you
