Also I note the balance is bang on what I make it so they have recent figures not sure I should send anything payment wise now as when I rang Intrum who I have been sending monies too so would know the recent balance they said they had not passed it on. Very confusing could I be in more trouble for not paying even if it is in dispute?

Ok sorry should have posted with above I have my folder out and its a tad more complicated.

Original debt was with Abound catalogue,

Then had correspondance from there arrears team - fine

Then NDR (Nationwide Debt Recovery LImited) - near same address as above

Then a company called GCC Debt Recovery Limited

Finally Intrum Justitia and now the SRG so would you go right to the top Abound again or there collection department?

Personally I would send it right to the top - if this means the managing director of Abound, then so be it. He/she is, probably, blissfully unaware of how his 'collection department' operates and it will do him/her good to find out.

Equally, I would send your payments to him/her, stating that you will continue to send the agreed monthly payment to him/her, with a request for a receipt, until such time as he/she personally clarifies the situation regarding the use of multiple debt collection agencies, in contravention of the OFT guidelines on Debt Collection.

Thanks Jo for that you reckon in that letter I should write that I do not know who is dealing with the account anymore as there are so many DCA (I do expect to get a signed copy of credit agreement - pretty sure anyway)

Also in this time did you still send payments?

If you send the letter to all the DCA's involved one of them should have a copy of your signed agreeement, that is the one you pay, otherwise you're a paying a company that have no right in taking money from you.

Well had a reply back from SRJ I think it was now and they have just returned the cheque and said case closed. Not had a reply from the initial company who passed it on or Intrum the DCA that were dealing with it - Intrum have chased the cheque for the £1 - what do I do if they don't have the agreement though? I know I had the goods and was happy paying until this what happens next?

I think I would make payments to the original creditor - let them sort out the confusion with dca's.

If no-one can prove you owe the money then you don't have anyone to pay it back to.

If no-one can prove the you owe the money, write to everyone you have paid money to, and ask for it back!

You should wait the 12 working days you specified before you take any action though. Could you wait and not pay anything to anyone for the 12 days? Then the company that can prove you owe money, then thats who you pay it to.

    All the best,

    Gale

Hiya I have just joined the forum today and after reading your post I realised I am in the same situation as you are with one of my catalogue debts, mine is for Kays and I was paying NDR now I am paying Shop Direct and then getting letters from NDR saying no payments have been recieved and its because after recieving a letter from Shop Direct I assumed it was passed over, I have no idea who I owe to but just keep sending £1 per month to SD and waiting to hear from them, also I know what you mean about the interest:mad:
