Solicitor Issues

Options
Hi all

Our recent house move unfortunately was one big stress, mostly down to the terrible solicitors that were recommended! They left everything to the last minute, lost paperwork, made me do most of the chasing, messed up the stamp duty and kept money of mine for some time that I felt they did not have to.

Anyway, I thought everything had been completed after being angry on the phone with my solicitor and requested they finally send through the details that HMRC required so that they could send the stamp duty certificate to the solicitors after they had kept messing up the details they were sending over to the HMRC

I believed the final step was for them then to send this to the land registry. I have again emailed/called my solicitors to simply find out that everything was now sorted, that's all I wanted to know. However, they ignore my emails, don't return the calls so yesterday I decided to ring the land registry direct. They informed me that everything was still not finalised as there was errors on the application to change the details of the owners of the property and they had still not heard back from my solicitors?

Has anyone been through this problem before, I don't know if I am stressing too much about it and whether the solicitors will finally get round to sorting it out or whether if they don't there will be any issues further down the line if we ever come to move again if they have not completed their process all the way through?

Many thanks for any advice.

Did you buy with a mortgage? If so I would leave the lender to do the chasing for you, they'll want to make sure registration is complete.

Ok, hadn't thought of that. I will give Natwest a call to see if they can help.

    Many thanks
