I'd suggest neither of us hold our breath waiting for our wishes to come true
indeed so
but you positively want to make the housing situation in london /SE worse, year on year whereas I wish to improve it year on year.
There is no doubt that much lower population growth even at current building levels, will improve matters over time.0 -

I don't know about wanting things to worsen but your kids being able to afford a nice 3 bed detached in the South-East was quite low on the priority list when considering the referendum question.
Especially as I happen to think membership of the EU is no more than a minor factor.0 -

Sorry I was dealing in facts not conjecture. Sterling has lost well over 20% since the Brexit vote.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -

I've recently come back from Ukraine. 1 GBP is worth 33 UAH (have you even heard of that currency before?), well that's closer to a "third world currency". I'm sure you've heard on the news about people who earn a dollar a day. That's true poverty.
Where someone can do the same job teaching kids all day in class and come out with about $8 for the day. Then when you go shopping and milk will cost you $2 and meat $4 if you're lucky.
Thanks for the sense of perspective. I must remember never to be unhappy about the effects of dreadful decisions being imposed on me because at least I'm better off than someone earning a dollar a day. You are absolutely right that we should only ever hold ourselves to the lowest conceivable standards. We should never expect anything better than the absolute worst the world has to offer.0 -

as a prgamatic person, I think that the purpose of being a member of the EU is to make the lives of the citizens better : better includes things like decent housing.
clearly you 'believe' in the EU as a religion. well looking at the damage the EU has done to Greece and the southern EU state plus of course the African states I guess you won't be able to take my view.0 -

It was you who compared the £ to a third world currency, not me.
I was merely pointing out that what you said was incorrect, perspective is helpful when you see such deprivation with your own eyes, it makes people in the UK who use food banks look rich.
I don't think I was suggesting that you should never be unhappy about anything because you're better off than these people. But hyperbole should be called out.0 -

To help us understand which facts you are referring to, could you say which currency or basket of currencies you are comparing sterling with?
Since June 22, the drop in value has been as follows:-
USD 1.4787 1.2415 -16%
EUR 1.3054 1.1139 -15%
CNY 9.7258 8.2884 -15%
CHF 1.4189 1.2181 -14%
