London and Country Mortgages

Options
Anyone else having problems with these guys? They seem to be recommended on the moneysavingexpert website but so far its not been great. They have been a bit slow at processing and haven't really managed my expectations. First we were going for a 13 year mortgage then Barclays came back and said 15. I thought they had done a lot of work for me so accepted it. Then I had to alert them again asking how the process was going and they came back a week or so later saying " we forgot to put your council tax in so Barclays have pushed it up to 16 years".

  • I guess it comes down to getting what you pay for and from what I gather L&C are cheap as chips and have a stack 'em high sell 'em cheap mentality.

That said, I've no doubt plenty of people get a good service from them also.

Filling in a lender's online affordability calculator is "Mortgage Broking 101."

    Here, can you see it?

A recommendation on MSE is not a recommendation of quality. It is of price.

You shouldnt expect local broker quality standards when you use a factory line telephone service.

I used London and Country for my mortgage recently. Between AIP and offer it took then 2 weeks. They kept me updated throughout the process and everything ran so smoothly. I personally think it depends on who your advisor and case manager is.
