After setting up a DMP...

I have set up my DMP, should all be working within a week or so when my new account stuff comes through

Anyway, I have just been offered a £1400 interest free credit card and I am thinking of keeping it just to give my credit rating a chance?? The account is open and running...do you think it will help? There's nothing on it BTW, am just wondering if it migght be worth once in a while buying say my shopping on it and paying it back the minute the statement comes in so my credit rating stays okish?

My debt trouble has never been due to over spending, I am actually good with money, it's been because of the divorce and everything that came with it, so it's not an issue with me not being able to trust myself with the card

I have opened myself a basic account....but do you think next september when I am working again I could get a normal maestro or switch account again? I just find it a bit demorilising having the same account I did when I was 16icon_redface.gif Would I have a chance of getting a normal account next septemner when I am earning again?

  • It is almost always a condition of your DMP that you cut up existing cards and not take out any further credit.
  • I agree with above.
I had to sign an agreement stating that I would not try to get any new credit.
With the bank account, I have read other people saying that after the bank is satisfied with the way the account is being kept, they offer to upgrade to a switch card.
