Free Parking near the Royal in Edinburgh

Does anyone know of any free parking within about a mile of the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh?

I don't know the area at all OR the bus system but I have 2 appointments there in the next 10 days with the second one likely to be all day and I baulk at the charges levied for onsite parking.

TBH, I would be investigating buses - ERI has always been difficult for parking.

Most of the surrounding areas are residental, under heavy restrictions or not somewhere you would want to leave a car.

I was thinking in terms of the Cameron Toll shopping centre.

You could use the park and ride. Its free to park and you pay £1.60 each way for the bus (correct change required) The bus stops right outside the hospital. The park and ride is on route to the hospital coming from sheriffhall roundabout, only a few hundred metres on the right from the roundabout.

Thanks, I never knew there was a P&R there, I may use that for the second appointment as I will be at the hospital for longer (possibly overnight)
  • I've parked in residential street then got a bus a few stops along. Never had any problems

I managed to find street parking about a mile away and walked along.
I think for the overnight stay I might use the Park & Ride at Sheriffhall.

    Thanks for the help.
