    Personally I don't think that is enough by far.

    We are a family of 4 and after all bills (Large Mortgage) are paid we have £1400 left over for anything else and food. I V rarely have any left by payday to put over into savings.

    To be honest we don't live v frugally altho I would love to but if we did I think we could then be putting £500 a month away each month.

    Thanks everyone, you're all right, we've decided to go for a different less expensive house/ mortgage instead.
