Why don't McDonalds have recycle bins?

I took the kids to McDonalds the other day and felt guilty throwing the waste cardboard in the bins. Surely a big concern like McDonalds would have a cardboard recycling option at the store. I can't be the only one of their millions of customers who feels like this
I mean the Happy Meal boxes could probably be used again in the store itself. They could have an incentive to kids who return their box to the counter, like they get a sticker. An option to have a yogurt instead of the toy would be much greener. Just think if even a small % of the McDonalds customers recycled their boxes this would have such an impact.
Maybe we should start a petition or something

Do they even have a reputation. Everyone knows their food is bad for you, the litter from the place can be found even miles from stores and its not very cost effective to eat their. I think people go as it tastes good and its a treat for the kids. I would have thought that McD`s have already dont the reserch and found that currently they wouldnt make any more money if they recycled.
Possible the government should do something about it, but would it get any more votes......0 -
Do yourself a favour and don't go there anymore.
Their food stinks, it's high fat, high sugar and has no taste.Happy chappy0 -
Because if they did they would probably end up full of burgers.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0

I am not saying I believe their advertising, but certainly McDs are trying to show themselves as ethical farmers, selling burgers which can be traced back to the farm of origin. Whenever I see one of their magazine ads where a family goes to visit one of their farms, I am reminded of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy scene in the Restaurant at the End of the Universe where the cow attempts to persuade Arthur to order part of her anatomy.
More seriously, why not make the suggestion to McDs? It may be that they don't trust people to recycle the boxes without leftover food in them (and can you imagine how gross sorting it would be?) and it may be that if the cardboard is contaminated by grease from the chips or sauce from the burger then it can't be recycled.
The good news is that children do eventually grow out of liking their cardboard. Although MacFlurries are still popular!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

If it bothers you that much then don't eat there.....take a packed lunch.
I don't eat in Mc D's or other fast food places because the food is rubbish and not good for my kids.
Why eat there and then complain that they are enviromentally unfriendly when we all know they are already? How does a brown cow give white milk, when it only eats green grass?0 -
Given they chop rainforests down, that the meat industry is a bigger contributer to global warming than cars etc.. I doubt McDonalds really give a ****0

Can you seriously imagine the average customer in McDonalds carefully sorting the debris on the tray to put into the correct bins?0

most people can't even be bothered to put their rubbish in the bin!!!!
this in my experience is defo a britsh trait
you go anywhere else in the world and when people have finished eating their Mccdees they get up pick up their tray and put the rubbish in the bin, in the UK they either leave it on the table or throw it on the floor outside
its a british thing
getting brits who use Mccdees to sort out their rubbish into different bins
hehehehehehe0
