Wide fitting kids shoes around Inverness

Does anyone know where I can get some decent kids trainers in/ around Inverness in an H fitting?
Clarks don't do trainers in an H; only up to a G (so they say), and startrite are the same.
little one (6) was a G but now they say he measures an H and I can't find anything to fit. He wants football style ones but I'm desperate : he'll be in wellies perenantly by the look of it.
I'm not keen on buying online as he won't be able to try them on.

    Hi KAbie

Have you tried the G fitting in the football style trainers in Clarks. They are a really deep style and most of them can fit a 'h' fitting foot.

Also might be worth going up half a size in the 'g' width to get them to fit. This usually works ok.

There is one trainer that Clarks do make in a 'h' fitting but it is a more traditional trainer - not the football style.

Sorry, cant help with store recommendations as I live in the midlands :o

Hope that helps a little :)
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...
  • Have you tried the start rite in a G fitting, my DD usually has start rite (IMO much better quality than clarks, worth the extra ££) and we usually find that in the start rite the shoes fit a width size below the measured fitting.

Did that make sense? I am trying to say that start rite are a wider fit than clarks
    MFW Start Sep 07 £79484, Now £58774

He was measured on the machine thingmy at 12 G even though the footie style clarks ones he had on were a 13G.
He tried the 12 and they were far too small so he tried the 12 1/2 G and they were still too small: assistant said he needed a 13H. They don't have these though. I asked to try a 13G but she said they'd be too small.
I did find a 13G in Brantano and she was right : they were too small!
I'm convinced he's more of a 13 or 1 than 1 : can the machine be that wrong though? I know it's only a guide and all styles are different.

Yes the machine can be wrong :)

I've worked for Clarks for 10yrs and the machine DOES make mistakes - its a man after all :rotfl: :rotfl:

Maybe you got an inexperienced sales assistant.

If his other ones are already a 13G (I think thats what you are saying :o ) then he's not going to have shrunk :D

Maybe go back & start again and try a 13.5G or 1G :)

    ooops.

Forgot to say that if he is wearing a G fitting now then he'll more than likely be ok in another pair, larger size, in a G fitting :)

Husband rang Customer care and they said they don't make a lot of the H width, so they sell out fast: that sounds a bit odd to me.
Went back and he was measured as a 12 1/2 F :rotfl:
This assistant found that his feet are different sizes although it's not so bad he can't wear the same size on both feet (now that would be fun: he has Perthes disease so it's a possibility that he may need different size shoes for each foot at some point). Maybe this is what's caused the confusion?
Anyway we found some 13G that fit well so I'm happy.
This sounds a bit mean but are the weekend staff trained as well as the full-timers? I had a kufuffel a while back and wonder whether it's best to go mid-week?

    It really does depend.

Bear in mind you could have a 40yr old who works in the week part time who has only worked for clarks for 6 months.

Or a sat girl who is 21 who has worked every saturday/sunday and late nights and overtime during the busy hols since she was 16. So 5yrs of experience.

Obviously those are the extremes but some of the young staff who work at clarks are very good. :)

You could always tell the person who is serving you that you have had a bad experience & could you have the shoes checked by a team leader/manager. They shouldn't mind - you're the paying customer. This happens all the time and its really not a problem :)

Thanks, yep you're right age doesn't equate to experience.
