Edinburgh Hotels?
Hi, I am looking for a recommendation for a hotel near Edinburgh Playhouse. I am buying theatre tickets for my grandparents and want the best hotel possible, but because they will be travelling to Edinburgh on bus I want it to be either near the bus station or near the playhouse so they don't spend lots on taxis. It just for one night and it is to say thanks for something so I want it to be special. Personal recommendations and local knowledge(ie location wise) are what I am looking for because I am going round in circles here.
Thanks in advance.

Well, The Glasshouse is literally next to the Playhouse, but quite pricey, I think. http://www.theetoncollection.com/content.aspx?pageID=450
Just across the road is the Holiday Inn Express http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/ex/1/en/hotel/edbpp?_requestid=76420
Much better value!
Never stayed in either, but both are well located for the theatre, and are walking distance from the bus station, or about £3 in a taxi.
Should say - there are a few pubs and clubs in the area, so it can get busy at the weekend.
Caileag (who used to live just around the corner)Free is my favourite price!0 -
Thanks, I might go for the Glasshouse as I do want it to be special but its probably not worth it just for one night where they will be out for most of it.
Would rather avoid Holiday Inn Express (I would stay there but I don't think they would really want to).
ETA: I am buying midweek because they like to spend time with family at weekends so hopefully the pub/club noise won't be too bad.
ETA 2: That Express by Holiday Inn looks a lot better than the ones I have stayed in!! It looks like that is a real option, especially location wise. Thanks0 -
There are lots of eating places within walking distance of the Playhouse. They would not have to eat in the hotel.:j0

That is good. I want to make it easy and cheap for them but would like to give them flexibility. If you know what I mean
Thanks for the info, I really don't know the area and I am not getting any good answers from search engines.
So hopefully Holiday Inn will be okay as they can get a pre theatre dinner near by and everything is in walking distance.0 -
Hope they like the Holiday Inn - it is only a few years old, and I think it is plusher than the average! As Oscar said, there are Indian, Italian, Thai restaurants all virtually next door.
I could suggest other hotels, but they would be further away and I can't vouch for the quality. So, I won't! :-)Free is my favourite price!0
