Rail Refund Charges

Options
Does anyone know the justification for the charges for getting a refund on unused train tickets? (I didn't collect the tickets from the ticket collection machine).

Just applied for a refund for a £27 journey bought using The Trainline. After the £10 charge (standard across the industry apparently) for each ticket for a return journey I should get a wopping £7 back! How can they justify that charge? I bet it's an automated process taking very little effort on their part.

Someone needs to be paid lots of money to read the request and push a button.
Railways are a law unto themselves {just like low cost airlines} so take as much as they can for doing very little.Still look on the bright side you did get something back. :0)

And by using Trainline you also paid an unnecessary booking fee.

I'm just getting £6 back for a £16 ticket I didn't need. I had booked 10 tickets, then one member of the party dropped out at last minute. I don't know what I would have got if I had cancelled all 10. Would I have got £150 or £60?

    You would've probably received £60. That's a £10 fee per ticket.
