New bedroom Carpet or buy just a Rug?

I went and priced a new bedroom carpet up today and at £17 per meter and underlay it's roughly £480. Now I didn't know that it's extra for the carpet company to remove my furniture as well on top, It just seems really expensive! My current carpet is okay just don't like the dark blue colour. I have seen a lovely colourful Rug for £180.

Do you think a Rug can make a difference to a room?

It all depends what area you are in , and what quality the carpet is for that price , I'd say that's expensive up north but down south who know's .
You need to agree beforehand about furniture and make sure you are both very clear on what needs to be done , I would maybe get a quote from someone independant who may be able to shave some off that price , but don't tell them you have a price already !

What is the floor itself? Floorboards, concrete etc. A rug would only need to be small bedside rug, not much point buying a large rug which might well be covered mostly by the bed. Also, £17 per metre just for the carpet and then additional charges on top is quite expensive, there is little wear in a bedroom. There are plenty of discount carpet stores....should be able to find something under a tenner with underlay included, and fitting for around £2 per metre.

Then move it yourself! They don't want to be doing it hence the expense.
    Don’t be a can’t, be a can.

£17pm seems very expensive for a bedroom carpet that doesn't get much wear - why not go for a cheaper, less hard wearing grade?
