How do you sign on?

On a zero hours contract and not going to get many or any hrs next week. How do you sign on? Do you go to the job centre or is there a link to do it online?

On a zero hrs contract you don't have to be fired, I know that.

Think it's pretty much done online these days.

I believe you get a text with your first appointment.

Has been a fair few years since I signed on but this is how I did it last.
  • Also, with zero hrs contracts you can work the odd hr and claim. My boss wants me to work cover as and when he needs me 2 or 3 hrs. I might just not be available not sure. And as I am off next week and won't know my hrs for the following week can I claim from a week or two before?

It also may depend on whether you live in an area that has introduced Universal Credit for some claimants
  • No point going into the job centres - the gorillas that are Mrs May's Gestapo will tell you to apply online or over the phone.
