Has anyone bought flannel/brushed cottons sheets.
Perhaps online.
I'm looking for some very high quality sheets.
I've bought some from department stores, but they tend to be quite thin and wear out quickly. In the US you can buy thick sheets that last 20 years.
Thanks

I got some many moons ago from QVC, their Northern Nights range. They are thick , very thick. But that was around 10 years ago and I'm not sure if the quality is the same now. But at least you can return them no trouble if the quality isn't good
Last lot I got for the spare room I couldn't see lasting more then a few years of occasional use, warm and toasty, but thin
Forgot to say, last lot I bought was from Dunelm. Cheap enough but as I say, the quality is not there0 -
I actually got some from asda last year. I think it was £8 for double and £7 for singles they have been used loads and washed really well and still in very good condition. We have an extra double bed now so need to get more sheets for winter. They still have them in asda but have also seen them in dunelm and wilko online all similar prices.0

The Northern Nights from QVC are very good, only thing against them from a personal point of view that they were really heavy when wet for me to hang up on the rotary drier, albeit they were superking size. I then got some fleece ones from QVC which are excellent, really cosy and lightweight at the same time. Have only had them two years, so can't comment on how long they will last, but they are still looking good. Wish I could get something similar a bit cheaper, but haven't found anything yet.
This is the range

I'd second QVC.
Got 2 duvet sets a few years back and use them both all winter and there's no sign of wear on them at all. :j:D:beer::eek::A:p:rotfl::cool::):(:T0 -

I just picked up an order from Asda for a brushed cotton sheet, deep double at £8. To be honest I thought it was just going to be a normal sheet, didn't twig what brushed cotton meant but looking forward to putting on the bedIts not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama0 -
Many thanks for the info, but the colour I want is out of stock
If anyone knows another place to get high quality brushed cotton flannel sheets, please let me know.
thanks0 -
I've just bought a lovely set from ebay, grey brushed cotton fitted sheet, duvet cover and 4 pillowcases in king size. We've had them on the bed for two nights and the OH, who is a terrible sleeper, has slept soundly for the past two nights, and the sheets are so incredibly cosy, it's like sleeping on velvet. Fitted sheet was £9.49, pillowcases £3.49 for 4 and duvet cover was £16.99, all prices are including delivery. There are lots of sellers selling exactly the same stuff, and I ended up completing the set buying from two different sellers, but the colours matched. Obviously can't comment on the longevity of them at the mo, but have had supermarket price sheets before and they last two or three years of regular use. I'm now looking for another set in a different colourway
I did have some proper American flannelette sheets years ago but found them to be quite cold and heavy, but that's just me.0 -
Oh my......
I never realised people went through sheets so quickly. The flannelette ones I use each winter were gifted to us by my parents when we got married. (They were already pre-used).........in 1985!0 -
Go vintage. I have sheets that belonged to my grandmother, possibly wedding presents. She married in 1918.
So yes, they certainly do last! I have seen similar advertised in vintage shops, I wish there was one near me to buy mine as I would prefer something in modern colours not boring white.Deal with things as they are, not as they should be.0
