Late Filing Penalty - Appealing but should I pay it in the meantime?

When are they saying they sent you the notice to file? It will show quite clearly on their records I'd imagine.0

I haven't received any notices for tax returns for any year.
The first I knew of the penalty was that it was on my account on Self Assessment online - then I got the penalty notice to pay £100 on 6 Sept.
I couldn't phone them yesterday as no phone signal but going to try on Monday
Does anyone know if I should pay the £100 by 6 Oct as they are requesting or wait til I've called them?0 -

Can't you phone them today?
You don't need to repay whilst your appeal is being looked at, it confirms this on their website.0
