From google cache, in case anyone else would find the question useful as context for Guest101's good advice.Hi there
I have a friend looking for some advice - hoping you can help. He has been told he is being made redundant and been given 1 weeks notice.
His contract states that his notice period (for whatever reason, not specifically redundancy) is 3 months.
His question is:
Is he entitled to his 3 months contractual notice period, alongside additional pay for length in service.
I note that several websites state that notice is 1 week for every year. He has been employed for 10 years.
Given he has been given 1 weeks notice is he entitled to the 3 months contracted notice plus 10 weeks for the notice period? Or is it one or the other?
Any help appreciated0 -
Notice will be contractual or statutory( 1week per year upto 12)
The redundancy payment is based on service at date of termination or the date statutory notice would have been(this can add a years service)0
