I have decided to leave the south east but where should I go?

I want to move up north, where can I go? I want to move somewhere when I can afford a property in the near future and where there are good career prospects. I want an one bed flat/house for £40,000 - £60,000. Also what job could I do? council? hospital? banking?

What are your qualifications? Given your wide choice I'm guessing nothing formal?0

The trouble is that anywhere you can buy a house or flat for £40-60k you'll be in an area of high unemployment.
£60k would get you a 1 or 2 bed place in most of the North East but good luck finding a job there without any specific qualifications.0 -
Why not job hunt first - you could move to where you find a job you like. But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

I think you're going to up your budget if you want something decent. New build flats by me start at about £80k. You could probably find something in a worse area for £50k or less, and if you haven't got experience or qualifications you'll probably only find minimum paid work.
I've just been reading some of your previous posts where you talk about your lack of confidence and having few friends, if that's the case would you be able to settle somewhere strange ?Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

I live in a northern city and there's nowhere round here I'd buy for 40 to 60k. You'd be looking at a shoebox studio or a property in a bad area.0

If they're £40k and even landlords aren't "snapping them up" then what makes you think they'd be a good place to live? If you're "one of them", from those areas, where those houses are cheap, then it's what you know and your family/friends are close that's fine .... if you're an outsider buying randomly into a cheap house area that even landlords haven't snapped up then you'd hate it.0

Only checked out the one link but the minimum price starts at £50k

That's because the cities are where the better paid jobs so property prices are higher. To get down to £40-60k you have to be in the smaller towns and villages which aren't easily commutable to the better employment markets in cities such as Newcastle, Sheffield and Leeds.0 -

I've only had a glance and some of the first ones around the £50k seem to be modernised warehouses in the City Centre, aimed at students but for someone the OPs age who wants to build a new life and meet new friends, that may be perfect.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
