Plastic on the hob! Help!

Popped into the kitchen to make myself a cuppa, found the naan breads had fallen onto the warm hob.
Any ideas on non destructive ways to get the stuck plastic off? It's stuck fast.
Would warming the hob and scrubbing with a metal scourer thingy help?
Excuse the giant pic, I have no idea how to re-size:

Yeesh, not fun. I'd pick as much as I could off whilst cold, then turn it onto the lowest setting and scrub away with a damp cloth. Open up the windows/turn on the extractor fan, burning plastic is not pleasant.0

Rip off the rest of the plastic, open the window, and turn the ring on full and burn it off.
BoP gives this advise on condition that you could follow it at your own risk0 -
I would put the hob on and pull as much as you can off, then soak in washing up liquid and vinegar overnight and scrub off in the morningBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Would a brillo pad remove it? (while the hob is cool)0

Thanks guys. I got home from work to find BF had managed to rip off most of it. Turned up the heat this morning and gave it a scrub with a metal scourer. Worked a treat.Debt Free as of 17/01/2009 Turtle Power!!

You're lucky. We'd had our new cooker for a month. I'd kept it clean all of that time...by using the microwave.
Bloke at the time decided he'd prove that he could actually cook something. He was going to make blackberry and apple crumble. He let the blackberry and apple plus 1 ton of syrup, explode over the pan and onto the ceramic hob. It's now pitted forever.
I'm reminded of my ex every time I clean the damn thing. I sometimes cuss!0
