Enormous Credit Card interest

I would definitely ask the credit card companies to freeze interest. This may mean you will not be able to use the cards for any new purchases. I know Barclaycard are usually good at reducing rate to a low life of balance or freezing interest.
First avenue is freezing interest. If any of the cards don't, pay that card off first with the 7k.0 -
Hi,
as you are struggling with the minimum payments the chances are if you borrow 7k from a friend you will struggle to make reasonable payments to your friend while trying to stay on top of everything.
You have already begun to default on the bank debt and can try to come to an arrangement to pay it off at an affordable rate rather than cause strain and stress from struggling to pay back a friend - and lose what is obviously a very good friendship.
Lean on your friend for emotional support - don't borrow from them. Take advice from free debt charities.
