self employment / mortgage / pay self wage?

Options
I am self employed and having asked ever so nicely to my mortgage company to transfer my mortgage to my sole name after divorce they won't let me as don't have 2 years of tax returns. (I did mainly employed work last year) This means waiting at least 2 years to remove my ex-husband from the mortgage. Everything else is resolved with solicitor / courts / land registry etc.

As an employer can I pay myself a wage and produce that as proof of income? I know some business owners do this, I suppose for legitimate tax reasons. My business dates back to 2011 but the mortgage company now says that there is a break so anything before the break doesn't count.

Prior phone calls have told me completely different things - such as on one phone call they stated they could use 3 months of bank statements to show income and outgoings...

I could probably do with some advice from an accountant or financial advisor but have no idea what I need to do as I am staying with same mortgage company as tied in for another 18 months.

I'm finding this really frustrating as already been paying mortgage on my own since split for almost a year but of course they won't release Ex's liability from debt unless I can prove my credit worthiness!!

If you own more than 20% to 25% of the business you work for, you are treated as self-employed and evidence of income is from;-

    accountant's certificate
    accounts
HMRC SA302s or SA Online tax Calcs plus Tax Year Overviews.

You can't fiction yourself a payrise and circumvent the system.

You can only hope your existing lender has some plan for dealing with your situation outside the norm.
