I wasn't getting any responses and I wanted to do it sooner than later because that's one of the jobs i really hate to do and pushed it off long enough hehe so I tried a degreaser spray and sprinkled bicarb. ontop and left it for 15 mins..worked great!

I remember that my mother used to use bicarb *after* she had cleaned the oven. Mixed it with water and painted it on to all the newly clean surfaces and shelves with a brush, it dried out and left everything coated. She reckoned it made cleaning easier the next time.
  • I HATE cleaning the oven so much that I bought a self clean oven!!! I still have to do the shelves tho....

You can buy it in most places in a blue and orange box it works a treat
I USED TO BE INDECISIVE BUT NOW I'M NOT SO SURE!

Strangely, I was about to ask the same question about the inside of my (glass) oven door. On my old oven a scouring pad did the trick, but eventually started leaving slight scratches on the glass - so I was hoping to avoid using anything abrasive on my new oven.
