Just had a letter saying our records show you have not paid class 2 ni contributions
They are going to send a debt collection agency.
Well I've not been working last few years, I did tell them.
What should I do now?

Is it compulsory to pay even if your not working?Nothing has been fixed since 2008, it was just pushed into the future0

No, but if you're self employed then you need to0

Contact them and explain why you haven't paid. They normally send me a letter requesting payment. Have you been receiving these?
Depending on your income you may not be liable. Check you have enough years for a full pension before choosing not to pay.
Class 2 NICs are currently flat-rate weekly contributions (£2.80 per week in 2015/16). They are liable to be paid for every week or partial week of self-employment in a tax year, if the person's profits for that tax year equal or exceed the Small Profits Threshold (£5,965 in 2015/16).11 Dec 20150 -

Same thing has just happened to my wife.
Did you have any notifications of money owed prior to the one threatening to send the debt to a debt collection agency?0
