Hi All,
Im finally growing up and paying off my old debts..
i have one with Orange for £100 from 2012..
i phoned EE, who contacted Orange apparently and advised the debt is with MCO Euro and gave me a telephone number. 0870 152 5649.
Cant find MCO Euro on google any where, and the phone number just states "Horizon no longer supports this service"
How do i go about sorting this balance and who are the company that apparently owns it!
Orange say its nothing to do with them... any ideas?

Never heard of them sorry.
Your options are :
(1) Wait until someone writes to you about the debt, then settle it.
(2) If no one contacts you, in two years time, or there abouts, it will become statute barred anyway.
Wouldn't worry about it to be honest, paying it off wont remove any default associated with the debt any quicker, it will still show for 6 years regardless.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Hi,
You have a couple of choices here. Firstly, you email/ write to Orange and ask them for a copy of the 'Deed of Assignment' for when they sold this debt on. Ask them for contact details and specify that the details provided are invalid.
Or check all 3 of your credit files and if they have updated your reported their details should show in the 'Useful Addresses' section for you to get in touch.
Alternatively, you can wait and see if they contact you, especially after checking your credit file, but this isn't especially pro-active.

A settled default may look better to a creditor than an outstanding one.
But it would only effect you should you apply for credit again.
Nothing you can do will remove said default entirely, any quicker.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Paying it off would change the status from defaulted to settled and that would be positive. However, the issue is that it may not be an instant improvement. Because your overall credit worthiness is determined by more factors than just credit history (such as age, homeownership, financial associations etc.) and because this is an older debt, it may not radically change your overall credit file straight away, but over time, a settled account is better than an outstanding default. But Sourcrates is right, the original default date will show for 6years.
