Remove a name from mortgage, and clearing 6k credit card balance

Options
hi all

if i want to remove a name from a joint mortgage, any idea how much a solicitor would charge to do this?

If I have a balance of 6k on credit card to take advantage of the 0% interest period, and make the min payments, and clear the whole balance in a few days, how long will it approx. take for the cleared balance to show up on my credit report?

i want to clear the 6K credit card balance before trying to remove the name from the mortgage through my lender/solicitor.

Does the other person named on the mortgage have sufficient income to be able to pay the monthly mortgage payments??

Can you afford the mortgage solely in your our own name? Do you need to pay the other party for their share of the equity in the property?

Yes payments are affordable, and no payment needs to be made for equity. An application would have to be carried out by mortgage lender, but I just wanted to get an idea of costs for solicitors.
  • I recently closed an unused credit card account and paid off £3000 on another credit card - was told it would take 2-3 months to clear off my credit report.

  • In similar situation to you - my solicitor has already dealt with transfer of property deed to my name through land registry which included the fee of £20 to land registry.

My bank also want £140 'admin fee' if my application is successful to transfer the mortgage to my name.

  • It's about £300 for the transfer of equity, plus lender's fees, plus land registry fees, sometimes telegraphic transfer fees if it's a remortgage - £500 in all, plus any stamp duty payable.
