Hi all,
I've been comping for a little while... I sort of thought that companies might favour entrants who DO sign up to all of the newsletters, partner newsletters, etc that their competitions promote via tick boxes.
Obviously now I'm getting about 430574502753290432 emails a day which I have no interest in! Fortunately Gmail has great filtering options.
However, was that slightly silly of me - do people tend to win competitions WITHOUT being signed up to the companies' mailing lists? Can I start unsubscribing?
I know some competitions do require newsletter subscription for ENTRY: note I'm not talking about these
Thanks very much!

Subscribing makes no difference if the competition is properly run - be careful what you filter or you could be saying goodbye to some winning e-mails.
As the guide states11 If you opt in or out of their mailing / 3rd party mailings, does it affect your chances?
I ALWAYS indicate a big fat 'no' to both of those, unless it is something that I'd really like to hear more about or a comp you enter by signing up for their newsletter.
It should make no difference to whether you are included in the comp or not, although some smaller companies may break the rules. I have to say I’ve been really lucky with wins & it seems to have made no difference whatsoever to my chances by always opting out where I can. It just means that I end up with less spam & on less junk mail lists.

Thanks mjm, I appreciate that! Sorry - I must have missed it in the guide.0
