2nd fix-new build timescales

Hi,
Sorry if I`m not in the right place. Currently in the process of buying a new build, exchanged contracts in june, completion was supposed to be in October on a 3 week notice period but been told by builders it could be November now. I`ve been to the site this week and the house looks about done, inside they say they are on `second fix` although I`m not sure exactly what is involved in this. Can anybody shed any light on approx how long it should be until completion from this stage?
