The safe withdrawal rates are already planning for a bad start. That's part of their point, including the worst cases that happened historically.
These are uncertain and unchartered waters. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a significant jolt that will shake people out of their slumbers at some point of time. Far too much intervention that's lulling people into a false sense of security.0 -
All of history is uncertain and uncharted until it's happened. The historic cases include a couple of world wars, the great depression and periods of very high inflation. As well as the completely routine things like 20% and 40% drops in equity markets.0
