Store Cupboard / Stockpile

We've just added Chicken Tonight Spanish Chicken to ours. There was a jar in the cupboard and I used it thinking that it would make room for something else. Well, we actually really liked it! But there's no way I'm going to pay £1.70 for a jar! It's currently £1.00 in Sainsurys at the moment, so I shall stock up on a few jars.
We do a lot of travelling and sometimes don't get home until really, really late on a Sunday evening when the shops have closed at 4pm. So I keep a litre carton of UHT milk in for such occasions so that we can have a cuppa until we get some fresh milk.
I stock up on toilet rolls when we visit farmfoods. These even save money on aldi prices.
Mine is pure and simply to save money.I'd be interested in people's reasons for having a store cupboard. I understand the elderly worrying they might not be able to get out and those really strapped for cash have it as a 'rainy day' back up. Personally I have a storecupboard of good value items either from offers in my usual shops or from stores that I don't get to very often like Home Bargains.
We have a few items that we buy branded and really do prefer enough to spend the extra. So I buy a few of each item - enough to last until it goes on offer again.
We've switched our main shop to aldi and I get the bits that I can't get in there in other shops.0
