Right, I have been looking at the fairy cake thread, and it has helped a bit.
I am going to a a charity fair tomorrow afteroon, and I have promised to either bring a bought cake:rolleyes: or make a cake or cakes.
So come one, I'm sure you would not want me to buy one
I have plain flour, all sorts of sugar, eggs, milk, lemons, limes, icing sugar and some food colouring.
Help me...Imagine I'm Mr Badexample's younger and more less able sister......
I can cook savoury stuff (not too badly), and if I have an exact recipe, my sweet/pud cooking is not too bad, but I don't know what to make.
The charity probably wants to sell each piece for 20 -30p.
HELP
TIA

Fairy cakes are quite easy to make, you can do it.
Here is a recipe: http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/database/fairycakes_83889.shtml
Or, you could make a lemon cake - make a normal sponge cake and add lemon rind and some of the juice, ie. follow http://www.yourcounty.co.uk/recipes/spongecake.html but add the lemon rind and juice when you've added all the other ingredients.
Or, here is a fairy cake recipe which uses lemons - http://www.waitrose.com/recipe/Fairy_Cakes.aspx
You might need self raising flour for some - do you have any baking powder if you don't have any self raising?
Or, if you want to search for recipes yourself, check out: http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/, http://www.sainsburys.co.uk/food/recipe/default.htm, http://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/. If you go to http://www.cookingbynumbers.com, you can tick the ingredients you have and it comes up with recipes.

If you use plain flour instead of self raising flour you will need to add baking powder to it.
