    Morning everyone,

Thanks for the thread nmlc glad you enjoyed your weekend away, likewise JackieO I love Scotland after spending a lot of my childhood holidays in the highlands.

Ouch Hester re your eye, am hoping other avenues can be sorted.
Hope all goes well today TA will be thinking of you.

Many congrats on the baby news Csarina

Having a bad day today, all plans for Mum are up in the air after she passed out on the way to the toilet yesterday, luckily one of the nursing staff saw her and managed to help her into chair. She has admitted to having dizzy spells for last couple of days. She did say to me that is worried has made wrong decision and is not sure she will get all the care she needs in her own home and have to say it does all seem a bit vague at the moment. We will speak to her palliative team this morning.

Hope everyone has a good day, take care folks x
  • Morning everyone,

Yesterday I managed a quick trip the SM - and I mean quick. I had a list and my GF and I darted round like we had Dale Winton screaming at us. From there we went to badminton, home for a lovely steak dinner then made our work lunches for the next 2 days...productive.

Today is an event day in the new work, although it's a quiet one so I may not need to stay late. We'll see.

GF's just off the phone saying she was in a small accident this morning. Her fault by the sounds of it as she ran into the back of someone assuming they were going to go at a roundabout. No damage to the other persons car, not a scratch, yet a decent bit of damage to her car. She's fine, just shaken. I'll phone the garage later to get a quote.

Dumpling - Good luck freezer shopping.
Gers - The woodburner? I thought it was roasting last night!
TA - Good luck for OH's appointment.
  • Good morning everyone and a bit cooler today, autumn is definitely on its way. Just a bit of pottering around to do this morning a little bit of ironing and perhaps feet up with my knitting until lunchtime.I slept a bit odd last night so my back is telling me it needs a bit of TLC.

When I go to DD's this afternoon I will use her heated pillow (she also suffers with back pain at times ) No shopping to buy at all but I might pop into the library on the way to pick up two books I have ordered as I got an email this morning to say they are in stock.

Quiz night tonight so I don't have to cook this evening .I think I will have some scrambled eggs and crackers for lunch today as I fancy something light. Ate far too much gorgeous food in Scotland :) but its rude not to when offered :):):)
<<hugs>> for the poorly and distressed on here today .So many different folk are having a bit of a tough time at the moment.

    Take care all
    JackieO xxx
  • Quick one from me - I doubt I'm remembered now ! Just to wish TA and her husband good luck today , candle lit for you both xx
Also Lainey and Mum . Still in my heart and my thoughts and my candle . xx
I will be back but not sure when .
Gentle hug for Hilstep and any who would like one .
    polly x
It is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

There but for fortune go you and I.
  • Good Morning all.
Late start for me today as i didn't sleep well last night and when i eventually dropped off i slept through the alarm.
DD2 failed her driving test yesterday and was in floods of tears when she got home. Seems a little better today and has already booked another lesson for Monday,
No change in FIL condition as of yesterday.
managed to get everything i planned yesterday done, but i am paying for it today so a gentle day of small tasks today i think.
DW emptied and bathroom deep cleaned so now time for a cuppa and a bit of surfing for prem baby clothes as my mate has just had her son early (27 weeks) and he only weighs 2.2lb. Mum and baby doing ok so far.
The fancy dress costumes i ended up sorting for my bestie was a scream. Her dog is going as a purple and black spider, her DD dog as a princess complete with pink tutu and her mates dog as a tramp (the CS did us proud)
Whilst i was there i managed to get a nurses dressing up outfit for my DGD for a quid, as she loves dressing up. Now washed and ready to be ironed.
Dinner tonight is leftover fish pie that is defrosting as i type.
Anyhoo hugs to all in need xx
    Bright Blessings xx

HH I hope there's a less invasive option regarding your eye. The very idea made me wince.

TA gosh, that sounds worrisome. I hope all goes as well as possible at the appointment.

Lainey I hope you can get something concrete sorted out with palliative team; passing out isn't good.

(((HUGS))) to all the above, and anyone else in need of one today.

I've got a carrot'n'orange mix out of the freezer (I get a big bag of carrots and a load of oranges from the market, prep the lot, and freeze it in cake-sized portions, ready to use) so a cake will be made shortly, which will serve as dessert for a few days. Better crack on with that, then.....
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

Anyway after suffering the loss of my beautiful dog Candy last month, we have been in the doldrums, n her old mate Buddy is refusing to eat :( Anyway i've just put a deposit on a gorgeous little staffy girl, who we're naming Bonnie :) I've forgotten how to put pics on here, but she's adorable, and we're picking her up, mid oct !:j:D

  • Afternoon - well, on the way to happy tea-time really. Have been reading my way through the forums - love the Old Style ones the best :)

Sending strength and positivity to all - hope anyone with health issues gets all the support they need - and much love to anyone in a dark place xx

Sorting out the glory holes and horror cupboards today - the recycling bins have been busy and there's a stack of stuff for the charity skips. Relishing the last weeks of line-drying (sad but true) and thinking about spring bulbs for empty pots and planters - must see what Mr B and Mr M have on offer!

Speky - it's not boiling on the west coast, not freezing either which is why I was rather overheated yesterday. I just fancied the cosiness of the fire / flame as it's not been on since late March.

I was in Oban for just after 9.00a.m. and took my car to get a tyre inflated. The on board warning system is so sensitive that I only needed one 'unit' of air for the error message and light to go out. Luckily the garage, just across from the big T*sco, did it FOC.

The only real shopping I did was some printer cartridges and a couple of newspapers which I'll use for teaching on Thursday. Need the students to look at the differences in reporting a story in the tabloids and the broadsheets.

It's a still and bright evening here, the swallows are lining up ready to flee to warmer climes. I'll miss them so much as they dart about in the dusk and early morning. Mind you, my car will be so much cleaner without the regular 'gifts' from them as they swoop in and out of the barn.

TA - hope the news about MrTA wasn't too devastating. I'm sending you big hugs meanwhile. And to you Lainey and Hilstep.

No neighbours called in today though I spoke to one as we crossed paths this morning - it's a good use of passing spaces! I'm taking some essential stuff down to his son in Glasgow on Thursday evening and getting rewarded by home-grown meat. Country life at its best. Now, if only someone was growing grapes I'd be even happier.
