How to search for a job?

I would like a job, but I have no idea how to go about finding one. I would be looking for relatively unskilled, like streetsweeping or cleaning, which I have done before. I'd be happy to work for an agency.

  • I would make sure you have a suitable CV first. There is no point applying for jobs - if you are doing so online - without a CV that represents you well. Otherwise you are wasting your time. The Job Centre should be able to help or lots of online tools

In which case register with local agencies and tell them you'll do anything hands-on. They are often better than the big national agencies as they will have the contacts with local employers. Even if it's a temporary cleaning job which lasts a few weeks it is all experience and you never know when it will turn into something more long term.
