Not sure if anyone has come across this or previously posted on this site.
Instead of adding items to the great landfill sites of the UK and the world some clever people thought of FREECYCLE.
If you have something that you have to get rid of and someone else can make use of then FREECYCLE is great.Once signed up you can advertise your items free and also will be emailed items that other people don't need anymore and you might be in need of.
This is a great way to be able to help each other and to work towards improving the environment, and with the cost of house moves especially for first time buyers this might be a great place to start with a few bits of furniture etc.
You sign up as a Yahoo group user, go to following link, and scroll down to UK and add yourself to your local area in the UK.
http://freecycle.org/display.php?region=International
E.G for London you'll be taken to:http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FreecycleLondon/
Points to be aware of:
Read the term and condition of use on the site
If you are in London then add your Postcode in your subject post.
When you're signed up you will get lots of mails, unsubscribe once you've advertised and passed on your items, or found what you're looking for.
Where possible ask for or provide photos.
If wanting to give or receive large items remember that postage & van hire does cost money, so get quotes before agreeing to BIG stuff.
