Debt charges refund..

Hello everyone
My mum recently received a letter through the post from 'Together', stating an account number and that she is due a £149.18 refund due to charges being added up incorrectly. They ask for her bank account details in order for the refund to be processed. She has had many loans in the past from many companies. She was just going to send it off with her details, but it seemed a bit dodgy to me. Don't they normally just send a cheque? Has anyone heard anything about this?
I have a photo of the letter if anyone needs it.
Thanks

Hi,
Together is a JD Williams catalogue, has she ever had an account with them ?
They can't do anything else with her bank details expect put money in the account so there's no risk.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Hi Kitty777,
If you are concerned you could write back and request a cheque as you do not want to give any personal details. I can't think of any reason why they would be unable to send it that way. Hopefully, that will help and make you both feel more comfortable.
If they refuse to send it as a cheque then you can complain and escalate the matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
