DBS Query

Hi

I am due to have an interview with the NHS Professionals in 2 weeks and it says about needing to show a DBS certificate that was issued after a certain date with specified criteria.

However, I used to work in the MOD and I am sure I did renew my DBS but to my knowledge, don't remember being in receipt of a certificate.

That said, it doesn't go on to say after that what needs to be done - all it has said is a certificate must be shown as proof of clearance after this date - not about actions that need to be taken on your part or their part so its a bit confusing.

I don't mind doing the enhanced application for DBS which would as I appreciate be the norm in a lot of circumstances. I have emailed them to ask, but does anyone who has gone through NHS professionals before know if they need to perform the check themselves and if so, can an individual complete an enhanced check by themselves? I was under the impression you can only do a basic check. I have completed a DBS form on the NHS Professionals website.

What would be the best site I need to do an application through if I need to do an application myself?

Sorry, I find this very confusing.

  • I have always found the agency do the check and you pay for it. The certificate is then sent to you which you can then register online within 14 days. You are then able to renew annually for about £13.00. You need to hang on to the certificate as although employers can check online they will want to see the original certificate.
