I thought that maybe this might be of some help to others in a similar situation. I've been lurking here for years and in a DMP with stepchange for 6 years but feel like I need to log what I'm hoping will be the last leg of this journey.
We started in 2010 with just shy of 30k worth of debt. It had accumulated for various reasons - too much to write here but resulted in me suffering from anxiety and depression. It has not been an easy ride. 6 years on myself and my partner have paid off just 8k which seems very little to show for such an effort but hey ho, onwards and upwards as they say.
I feel that there may be a glimmer of hope in that we have been offered a small sum of money to hopefully go some way to clearing this rope around our necks. Today I started by listing our creditors and writing to each of them bar one (an overdraft) and one who hasn't defaulted us yet to request a CCA. I'll be getting 7 blank postal orders for £1 first thing Monday and they'll be out in the post the same day. I've sent the one who didn't default us a full and final for £125.
My creditors are as follows:
Debt Managers £3562
Cabot Financial £3390
Wescot £3113.0
Capital One £2916.
Robinson Way £2617.
Robinson Way £2130.
Wescot £1682.00
IDEM £1313.00 (THE OVERDRAFT)
Capquest 601.00 (SENT F&F for £125)
We pay £125 to service the debt and wont be debt free until 2030:eek::eek::eek:
the link to the template for the full and final is here http://https://www.nationaldebtline.org/EW/sampleletters/Pages/Full-and-final-settlement-offers%20(joint-names).aspx
I have some figures worked out for full and final figures, I plan on starting at 20% ish and working my way up. Hopefully we will get some joy.

£6k paid off is a better picture than where you started, no? Keep plodding away - and obviously if you're in a position to offer F&F's then brilliant - so much the better.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Hi
Make sure you get confirmation from the creditor that they are accepting your full and final settlement in writing before making the payment.
