Sunday the 16th September 2007 sees the newly knighted Sir Ian Botham host, for the first time in the north west, his own celebrity/am golf day.

The event is being held at Mere Golf and Country Club near Knutsford. It's sponsored by Qire and the proceeds of the day will be donated to Leukaemia Research, the charity for which Sir Ian Botham has already raised in excess of £8m.

Sir Ian will be joined at the event by many of his friends from sport, television and entertainment plus a host of companies from the region will be entering teams in support of the charity.

Competing on the day will be the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson, Sir Bobby Charlton, Ian Wright, Robin Smith, Ian Rush, Robert Powell, Phil Middlemiss, Rodney Marsh and a host of other high profile celebrities.

The Golf Tournament will start at 9am and continue throughout the day. It will be followed by a gala dinner and cabaret in the James Braid Suite, at Mere Golf and Country Club.
