Windows 10 update - now no green box when logging in to secure sites?

Options
There was a W10 update last night so today I'm not getting the green box when logging into secure sites such as Internet banking.

For example Lloyds bank the padlock is there, the writing is in green but is not coloured in so much more difficult to see if the site is secured or not.

Anybody else getting this?
Is this progress?

    What browser ??

Its green on Firefox for https sites .
  • Chrome........the writing is in green but it is much more difficult to see because the block containing for example the bank name is now white.

  • Yes it is the same for me but yesterday it was a solid block of green - much easier to see whether the site is secured or not.

I think this may be due to a change in the implementation of the SSL certificate rather than anything Windows has done.

It's Extended Validation (EV) SSL certificates that provide a green box or turn the address bar green. It is also the case that the website can turn EV notification on or off. Lloyds Bank carried out maintenance last night, so they may have also made (by accident or not) a change that is causing the EV green box not to display. They could also have installed a different SSL certificate although I would find it very surprising if a banking website opted for a non-EV SSL certificate.

EDIT: Hmm, actually, having checked a number of sites I know use EV SSL, none of them are producing a green box or green address bar in any browser. Just the padlock and identity information (in green). I can't find anything online about there being a change to the way EV SSL is presented. The certs are all valid, and the browsers all provide the security information on demand so not sure why it's changed.

Why change the past when you can own this day?

I'm confident this has nothing to do with Win10 at all, but Chrome itself.

I run 8.1 and that occurred for me yesterday. Other design changes are visible -3 dots instead of bars, different favourite icon- so it's a Chrome update.
