How to lose weight - it's simple

I would feel like this every day if I didn't do anything about it, that's the point. Doing so is hard, but not doing it becomes harder as being even a few pounds above my 'good' weight makes me feel rubbish physically and mentally.
I'm going out tonight, and I know the food will be lovely and I would love to have a glass of wine or two. I know most people would say 'just go for it, it's only one evening', but when you make excuses for one evening, you start making them for every day, so instead, I'm preparing myself to only have a small plate of food and only have one vodka if there is any, or I'll have herbal tea.
Tomorrow, I'll force myself to go for a run, although I know I won't feel like it at all, but I'll feel better afterwards and when I am back to my normal weight, I'll feel even better.
No, I meant try feeling like you are ill with a virus every day. It seems 'normal' for people to loosen the reigns a bit when under the weather, so you should see that feeling ill all of the time can hinder pretty much everything, not just weight loss.0 -
Oh I see. I cannot say how I would deal with it if that was the case, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't accept it. I went running this morning even though my chest still felt very tight. I expected to be out of breath after only a few minutes but to my great surprise it didn't affect my running at all and I actually had a very session. I feel so much better now and chest feels almost clear.
I can't speak for other, but for me, my attitude has always been to fight on even when I think it's pointless and the outcome has always been positive in the long run if not in the short. I also believe that mental and physical are strongly interlinked. If you feel better in your mind, you will feel better physically and if you feel better physically, you'll start feeling better mentally. What is hard is that it often means very tiny steps for no or little immediate benefit.0 -

Fbaby, I'm vegetarian and I've managed to more or less give up carbs.
I swore to DD that it was impossible, but I've cured the habit. She bought us Michael Mosley's Intermittent Fasting book, which ive read cover to cover. We used those recipes and Mimi's, so we had delicious meals, as well as losing weight.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

I am sure that 'weight loss attempts', in whatever form you want to dress them up (calories, carbs, points, syns counting etc) is the cause of my binge eating disorder. Which would be bulimia, if not for my fear of vomiting. I have taken laxatives in the past.0 -

I also do intense sport, so both carbs and proteins are important for my diet. I really would find a diet without carbs very depressing so would have to be absolute last resort!0 -

I didn't see this earlier..unfortunately, 'fighting on' physically will make me even more ill, bed bound in fact. I do other things to keep me mentally well, such as meditation, and I will do activities I think I can manage - park the car a little further away, for example, but this is in itself a big deal.
I walked a little further yesterday and ended up in significant pain last night, to the point of near tears.0 -
If I was overweight and really struggling to lose weight, I would probably consider it but as I do manage my weight, I don't see the reason to give up something that makes me very happy!

Sorry, Fbaby, but you had given me the impression that you are trying to lose weight : probably by bring on this thread.
I was surprised how easy it was to give up my potato addiction/habit. Obviously, I haven't completely cut carbs. Still have a thin pizza, with loads of veg.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
