i have just made a chocolate birthday cake in a tray for my sons 6th party. i took it out of the oven and took it out of the tin and its fallen apart into 4 pieces. so i've quickly put it back inthe tin and squashed it together.
any idea's of how to "glue" it back together?

What about using a chocolate butter icing as a sort of polyfiller? What were you going to cover the ourside with?0

Why not make him a birthday trifle instead? Soak the sponge in jelly, made up with the liquid from a tin of fruit, put the fruit on top and leave to set, then add a layer of custard and one of whipped cream, and decorate with glacé cherries, hundreds and thousands, or whatever you have got.
Put the serving dish on a large dinner plate, with tea lights around the edge instead of birthday candles.I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Leave it in the tin is what I would do and just decorate the top with butter icing and sweets and candles. You are going to cut it up anyway.. Have fun0

When you tip it out again, just use some of your choc fudge topping...to stick it..how about putting it into the fridge then and it should set.... if you are using a cake band then that will hold it whilst it sets, by the time you have decorated it no-one will ever know...;)
You DS is 6... he won't care, im sure it will still taste lovely...and his friends will probably be thrilled that they have a home made cake
Back again.... just thought if you don't have a cake band...you can use, skewers or cocktail sticks to hold it in place - just be sure to count how many go in and how many come out again before cutting it...-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
thanks thanks thanks
i have glued it with the chocolate fudge topping. turned it out and "glued" it to the base of the plate..................after 5 minutes it has still not broken down. luckily it only partially broke into 4 pieces so when it is cut later it should not crumbleGive blood - its free0
