Capquest coming onto scene 8 years on need update on their tatics

Options
Hi all,

Too cut a long story short had massive money problems 10 years ago. 2 debts for Barclaycard and Northern Rock both at time couldnt come up with a valid agreements and despite being passed onto to countless debt agencies (including Capquest) they went away.

Fast forward today, strange call. Computer message on phone when answered, mentioned my name and said if available press 1. I have been having a fraud issue with bank so thought it was them, went onto hold music and no answer. Before I tried to call back I googled the number and turns out to be Capquest.

Last time dealt with debt was 8 years ago, moved home twice since then and no word until today and they called me on an ex-directory phone number but no mail???

Has anybody had any recent dealings with Capquest to bring me up to speed with them.

Many thanks in advance

No recent dealings no, but if it's for the same debts you mention, wait until you get something in writing, then send a letter telling them they are chasing debts with no valid credit agreement, and to fournicate off basically.

Include a copy of original letter stating they have no agreement, that should be enough.

I saw off 14 seperate DCA's when BOS could not produce a valid credit agreement, so don't lose heart, the debt is still unenforceable.

  • Thanks, I'll await the postman if anything if ever turns up. Checked all credit agencies and no searches showing from Crapquest. I know its statute barred as well so they would be bonkers chasing a debt 8 years since last payment but I suppose the empty threats may get some to start paying again.
  • I assume "Crapquest" is more a statement of fact than a typo!

Two questions - How the h**l did they get hold of an ex-directory number ?
And do they know your current address ?

If if the debts are SB, I wouldn't put it past them to issue a court claim to a previous address and get a judgment by default.

    .

    That's a really good question.

My numbers been ex directory since the year dot, and its been our number for over 50 years, we never give it out especially to businesses, and yet we get sales calls all the time.

Now it begs the question how do they get that number ?

Someone, somewhere has a very lucrative business selling on customer information, I believe it stems from the little tick box on most agreements you sign these days about information sharing, but how they get hold of ex directory numbers is anyone's guess.
