Virgin East Coast charge twice for same ticket

Options
So frustrated. My daughter booked an advanced seat from Edinburgh to London last Sunday. Due to a family illness she had to travel to Darlington on the Saturday. She therefore bought another ticket Edinburgh to Darlington. On the original ticket it says that it is exchangeable for a fee so she rang and asked to change the boarding station on the Sunday so that she could get on the train at Darlington ( having paid for Edinburgh to London). She was told that it was not possible. She explained that it said on the ticket that she could exchange it for a fee. They said if she read the terms and conditions on the website she could only change the date or time. She therefore had to buy a third ticket. and travel on the same train. That means she sat on one seat with two tickets for the same seat. Altogether Virgin made her pay more than double the money for the journey. Iniquitous

Simples. board original train at darlington and if asked for ticket show original perhaps in loo when tickets were previously checked LOl.

Seriously though would expect guard to be only concerned if ticket date/time was ok from Edinburgh

When are you starting your campaign about this?? or perhaps posting in appropriate board will get more responses and advice LOL

So what sort of action/campaign are you mounting against them?

If you just wanted to vent steam, the PVW or Public Transport boards would have been a better lace!
