Hi,
Just wondering if anyone knows where I can get some free mortgage advice? I've been on these forums and I am struggling to figure out the best way to go about applying for a mortgage with my credit history. Is there anyone/anywhere I can go to just to have a chat about the best way to get a mortgage?
Thanks 😊

Most mortgage brokers will have an initial chat free of charge.
Most brokers do charge when it comes to doing the work though. Are you wanting free for everything or just the initial chat?I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Hi Shell. I have been using London and Country who give free advice. They are really good and efficient. I would definitely recommend them. They helped me get a mortgage when every other broker i spoke to struggled!
They also don't charge anything throughout the process as they get commission from the Lender if you decide to go ahead with them.:jFinally going to be a homeowner:T0 -
A number of brokers may help you, look for ones that earn their fee from the lenders rather than you and who are not tied into looking at only particular lenders offers.0

I realise this is a money saving expert, but sometimes free is not the best. L&C have many good and bad reviews on this site.
Being fee free is a numbers game. You need to do twice as many mortgages to earn an income. That usually means somethin has to give, are things going to be processed as quickly? Are people going to have work piled high and rush and make mistakes? Im not hear to convince you to choose a fee charging broker, but you should think about whether your most expensive purchase is the place you want to cut back or not.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I have experience of using L&C and I have no complaints. They have been efficient and have kept me updated throughout the whole process.:jFinally going to be a homeowner:T0

If you have an adverse credit history or anything that might be potentially problematic or tricky to navigate, then I wouldn't recommend a call centre based, fee-free broker like L&C. I'd rather find a local broker, fee based or otherwise, who can provide a high quality, personal service.0

Malmo unfortunately i have to disagree. I have adverse credit history and not even a local broker could help me but L&C did. Other brokers I tried told me I couldn't get a mortgage!:jFinally going to be a homeowner:T0 -

As Amnblog said on another thread:
When out and about, shopping for something important, it is prudent not to restrict yourself to 'Poundland'.
