Hi everyone I hope you can help
I have a very frugal two weeks ahead and am busy planning this week's menu's I came across a motley collection of fish in the freezer which have all been yellow stickered or whoopsied but I am stuck for recipe ideas.
Being honest I am not too keen on the smell of fish cooking so want to do the cooking in one go and put back in the freezer for during the week. I am feeding 4 with three hollow teens and myself!
Okay here is the selection -
1 manx kipper 200gms
3 sardines 300gms
1 whole herring 225gms
smoked rainbow trout 150gms
half a kilo of cooked prawns (little ones)
Thanks in anticipation

How about a prawn curry - you could buy a jar of sauce or make your own with curry paste (however hot or mild you like) and add a can of chopped tomatoes.
My other suggestion for the prawns is risotto. Fry an onion, then gently fry the rice for a minute add chicken stock or vegetable stock a little bit at a time, you can bulk it out with frozen peas, chopped courgette etc. Don't add the prawns until near the end (same goes for the frozen peas if you are using) as they don't need much cooking. Serve with toasted pittas and lemon wedges. Delicious.
Happy cooking:j0 -
HI fairy, i would make a load of fish pies, either with mash on top or grated potatoe and cheese and freeze them all, fish masala is a good, the only thing being i dont think you can refreeze the prawns again can you? but its a suggesion hope it helps flower:Dpats :T0

You could try a potato gratin type dish with the smoked rainbow trout.
I did this a while back, with some flaked smoked salmon, broccoli, peas, onions along with the sliced potato and a mild cheesy sauce.
The smoked fish doesnt need a strong sauce, so you could try a basic white sauce flavoured with a bayleaf.. if your watching the calories.
Pasta with mushrooms, onions, courgettes, with either a tomato based sauce, or red pesto, and the smoked rainbow trout.
Prawns with Marie-rose sauce on large jacket spuds and a lovely salad.
Prawn stirfry. Prawns...noodles... onions.. mushrooms... beansprouts... peppers.
The stirfry veg always seems to be a regular in the reduced whoopsie section.
Or if the hollow legged people need more to keep them going... try a prawn special fried rice.
Boiled rice... mushrooms... peppers.. onions... courgette .. peas.. corn... scrambled eggs... and a wee touch of soya sauce
Remember the world could be your oyster or your lobster with fish dishes....0
