letter of fullfilled finance

Hi, i had car finance with RCI which i have completed last year, they also sent me a letter stating that i have completed and fully paid my loan agreement.

I have recently received a letter saying that i have missed a payment as they have audited my account and now want the payment for that installment.

What are my rights with this as since i have finished my car agreement i have changed bank accounts and have to go out of my way and possibly have to pay for statements etc to check that this is the case.

Can someone please help me out with this.

Thanks

  • Well you need to prove that you DID pay all the contracted payments.
If you did not keep previous statements then you may well have to pay to get copy statements.
Your rights are simple - if you were contracted to pay say 36 payments of £100 and you can show that you made 36 on time then you owe no more.
If they are correct and in fact you missed a payment then you will have to pay.
