Was my mortgage mis-sold?

Hi all
Wondering if anyone is in the know.
If a broker changed my DOB on my mortgage application to make me a year older is there a case for being mis-sold the product? (I wasn't aware that this was done until recently)
I was 20 when the application went in for the MIP, and 21 when the sale completed.
Many thanks

I'd say no unless there were issues with going into retirement etc but I doubt you took out a 46 year mortgage, has it made any detrimental impact to your life?0

Did you sign the fraudulent forms?0

I didn't sign anything with the wrong DOB on it, that's for sure. Also the broker copied my passport etc. But has since come to light that this is what happened.0 -

Haha, the date being different in itself, no. The mortgage has been a total nightmare, as I'm sure most of the Together mortgages with Northern Rock were/are. I'm clutching at straws before I apply for bankruptcy.0 -

It would not make the slightest bit of difference unless you were aged 17 at the time. You were 20. So, no issues.I'm clutching at straws before I apply for bankruptcy.
yes you are. this is an insignificant clerical error that has no impact on the lending decision.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

No nitemare with out NR mortgage...Dream if anything lol
Id french kiss the bloke who arranged our mortgage..yes he was sly but it worked out well for us.
We wasnt told that £15k of our Mortgage was a unsecured loan...first we knew was when we went bankrupt and had the 15k wiped from mortgage and more oddly kept the house.
So in effect we not only lost our debts but made 15k profit....:rotfl:0 -
dunstonh, thanks for taking the time to reply. This is why I am asking here, where people would know a straight yes or no.
Although, if it's such an insignificant clerical error, I'm perplexed as to why the broker felt the need to do it in the first place. However, I was advised by someone to look into it, and thought I would ask on here initially.
I'm glad we both agree that I'm clutching at straws! Thanks for being so kind when I'm feeling at the lowest I've ever felt in my life. High five. Have a great day!0 -

Stuart, hi, glad it worked out well for you - not heard many happy stories.
I'm sitting on £23k unsecured loan that I can't pay back, 5 years down the line from selling my property as it was in negative equity.... I'm not kissing my broker, haha.0 -

That's reassuring to hear. I think its the only option for me but am just feeling so down about it I want to do everything I can to explore any other avenue so I will always know it was the absolute last resort.
Thanks for your reply, best of luck to you x0
