You seem to be missing the point !
Value shop have a google adword banner on there site on the right hand side , Tesco do not have a google banner on there site at all.
Ah, I see, I did not see those. I am using Firefox, on the right of my screen is a Verisign certificate and below that some Valueshop links. My google ads are bottom centre, I have to scroll down to see them. They link to some of Valueshop's competition.
OK, so maybe the they do not allow sites that display google ad words rather than ones that use them. Well, thanks for clearing that up, even if I don't fully understand the reasoning, the ads seem harmless enough to me.
It's still a pity though, IMO, that there is not a site out there that allows all links. I have used Valueshop a few times, and found them to be fine. Oh well, at least I can share the secret with MSE users after spending an hour looking for it! Cheapest SanDisk 2Mb Ultra 2 Extreme USB Plus is at Valueshop, £16.95 delivered!
...and as an afterthought, yes I do like HUKD very much, so much that I want it to be perfect and get really annoyed by it's little imperfections. I hope no one minds me posting this thread, but I feel a lot better now that I have got it off my chest!!0 -
Wasn't very happy with you cutting and pasting my private message here mouseclick... but there's no harm in it I guess.
But Deanos has explained it above, and the thread on HUKD also does.0 -
Like MSE I thought HUKD is on the side of the consumers. I didnt know that they effectively censor the postings!! In effect it has become the big fish, what a shame!Wasn't very happy with you cutting and pasting my private message here mouseclick... but there's no harm in it I guess.

Aha, I recognise that icon!
I did not think there was any harm in posting your comment as I assumed it was just a statement of company policy, which IMO should be public. By cutting and pasting EXACTLY, I wanted to ensure that I had not mis-reprersented HUKD in any way. However I did not mention your name, and I trust you noticed that I said "I use HUKD a lot, and really like it" and "the mods on HUKD are very helpful, especially the one that sent me the above message".
And like Windows XP, I think HUKD is great, but because I rely on it so much it gets annoying when it doesn't work as I would like it to. And just like Windows, there is little competition that can match up to HUKD (lucky HUKD).
And I don't think this thread will do it any harm either. It can only attract visitors to HUKD who didn't know about it before. Even I, who mildly criticise it, think it is great.
I just think it would be helpful to all if HUKD had an "about us", FAQ and "contact us" page, visible from the home page. That way, people would be able to work out which companies are not allowed. It would save you, as a mod, a lot of work in vigilantly removing posts as soon as they appear, and then having to explain your actions to those who ask "why?".
Another possibility would be to list the traders that have been refused (United Mobile, Valueshop etc) in the drop down list of traders, but with a message "we do not allow deals with this trader, see (policy page) for details". However, I realise this would mean extra database work.
So, great site. But, as a frequent user who has managed to get two friends addicted to it, just a few criticisms.
PS - just noticed that valueshop WAS in the drop down list back in December 2006 so presume the policy of excluding adword sites is fairly recent?0 -

By the way I checked in Internet Explorer, and the google ad words are at the bottom not on the right. That is why I missed the point when I first checked, couldn't see them. Not sure what browser you are using...0 -
