Tip! - how to get more extra prints from Brother ink cartriges

Many Brother printers tell you the cartridges are empty even though they still have ink left in them. The printers also refuse to do anything until you replace the cartridge.

To get more prints from the supposedly empty cartridge, simple remove it from the printer and put some black electrical tape over the see thru section at the back of the cartridge. This fools the optical sensor into thinking the cartridge is full.

Just done this (my printer takes the LC1000 type cartridges) so far I've had an extra 20 pages of good quality printing and still plenty of ink left. :T

  • Great tip, I tried allsorts.
  • I have one of these printers and have noticed that it tends to drink ink, even when the printer is not being used. It's the DCP 770 CW. Has anyone else experienced the same?

    Thanks
