A little too frugal...

After seeing an ad for a free cleaning at the local dentist school, I thought it was a fabulous idea... BAD IDEA!!

I found an article on facebook advertising a dental student needing clients for a free cleaning. Score, I signed up! I was able to go mornings.. What was suppose to be 2, maybe 3 4-hour long appointments has now turned into 6 4-hour long appoints with another 2-hour long appointment to go!!!

Everything was fine up until the actually cleaning that litterally brought me to tears. It was absolutely horrifying.

So now, my jaw hurts along with my gums and I have to put myself through this torture again for another 2 hours.

Next time, I'm dishing out the money for the dentist...

What did you save money on, but should have gone the extra mile for?

  • Eek! Sorry to hear you were left in pain, but I can help but wonder why you're planning on going back again.

  • so she can finish her cleaning and graduate... i'm her last client. if i skip out on her, she'll have to start fresh on someone else.

i'm strongly considering not going, but i feel as though that may be a greedy decision on my behalf.
  • Well it's a very nice thing for you to do, going back to her and allowing her to finish the job. I think I'd find it a tough decision to make, making the choice between some more pain and helping someone out. But I'm a firm believer in karma, so I'm sure that by allowing her to finish on you, you'll be rewarded for your good deed :)

Have to agree with this. You'll probably doing her more of a favour if you don't go back (or at least her future clients!).
  • I work for a dentist and people seem quite unaware that a very thorough cleaning CAN be quite painful, no matter who does it, if there is deep seated plaque round the gums.In fact a lot of people we treat have to be numbed to be cleaned. The dentists admit that it can be very painful, more so than a root treatment or filling. So maybe she isn't that rough? Maybe she could numb your gums next time? It might not be so bad though, if the initial deep cleaning is over!! Although of course maybe she IS just terrible!!!

She should have warned you, definitely, that it would be painful. You should tell her this. I went to an inexperienced aromatherapist once and left in agony. I wrote to tell her she was too rough and she was delighted I had given her this constructive feedback - and I got a free massage!!!
